Education has a very important role in the development of Tourism as it creates awareness of tourism as a field of study and promotes its value. Education is a powerful weapon with which sustainable tourism and sustainable development can be achieved. Sustainable tourism, which is defined as “tourism that respects both local people and the traveler, cultural heritage and the environment”, generates revenue for local economy, enhances cultural interaction and improves health and education.

For Iran to have a sustainable tourism development, good education policy should be endorsed. That is why Arasbaran Tourism Education Company with the aim of sustainable development in tourism industry throughout Iran acts on training professional travel guides (ecotour guides, mountain tour guides, birdwatching tour guides, herpetology tour guides, cultural-historical tour guides, local tour guides and technical manager of travel agencies), holding ecotourism educational courses and training workshops in various levels of tourism across Iran. In addition, Arasbaran Tourism Education Company designs and implements national environmental plans. 

All these courses are held in cooperation with Iran Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization, Iran Mountaineering and Sport Climbing Federation, the Iranian Department of Environment and the Iranian Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
